Orders and sales of the members of the German machinery association VDMA TFL are still on a growth course despite difficult general conditions: in the period October 2021 - September 2022, incoming orders increased by 37 % and sales also rose by 14 % compared to the previous year. Only exports in the sewing and apparel technology sector fell slightly in the first 8 months of 2022, by 5% to €265 million.

From the perspective of the German machinery association VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies (VDMA TFL), Munich/Germany, the most important export market was Poland, followed by Italy and France. German suppliers of shoe and leather technology were again able to increase their exports by 8% to €34 million in the period from January to August 2022. Here, the main customer countries were the USA, Mexico and Italy. Exports of German laundry and dry-cleaning technology also increased in the first 8 months of 2022 by 17% to €272 million. As last year, the most important export markets were Poland, the USA and Turkey.
