The ITMA, the Olympics of textiles, will be held from June 8-14, 2023, in Milan/Italy. More than 1,600 exhibitors from 44 countries will present their latest innovations.

Transforming the world of textiles – that is this year's ITMA motto. What is your response to this? What is the motto of your trade show participation?
Stäubli has been contributing to the evolution and innovative advancement of the weaving industry for over 130 years. The whole textile world is in transformation and must evolve towards sustainability even quicker now, especially in environmental and humanistic terms. Both of these aspects go hand-in-hand with innovation in the textile mill and energy-efficient machinery with long service life and easy maintenance, which includes spare parts availability. Our motto is “innovation ahead, sustainability inside.”

What is the most interesting topic/technology you will present at the ITMA?
Besides our latest jacquard and carpet-weaving solutions, Stäubli will present its new MyStaubli customer portal, which provides greater services to weavers. It is part of Stäubli’s digitalization commitment. Visitors can get an overview of this at the stand – and see for themselves what our Safir automatic drawing-in system is capable of.

What do you hope/expect from the ITMA 2023?
We hope that many of our customers and partners will be eager to discover the latest technologies and that they will be able to travel to Milan despite the challenging global situation. The trade fair will be an indicator for the months to come and will hopefully confirm to us that we are successfully meeting the needs and requests of our customers.

What are the biggest challenges for the textile industry right now?
Ecology is certainly one of the biggest challenges that has to be rapidly integrated into all textile producing processes and in commercialization and end-consumer behavior as well. From water conservation to mass production and the integration of recycled fibers, the tasks are diverse, interesting, and demanding.
Technologies will be presented at the ITMA that will help us step forward toward sustainability.
The interview was conducted by the TextileTechnology team with Fritz Legler, Textile Global Head of Marketing, Sales & Service WPS - Marketing Officer of Stäubli AG, Pfäffikon/Switzerland.
